    The project was conceptualized with the idea of creating a WELLNESS SANCTUARY, a blending of natural and refined landscape where residents can truly rest their mind and body after a busy day.

The entrance is framed up by a GRAND PORTAL, signify a TRANSITIONAL SPACE that brings the residents from busy city life into a quiet, tranquillity wellness sanctuary.

  • Spatial and Picturesque Experience
    Once through the portal, residents are greeted by a SPACIOUS CENTRAL COURTYARD that is filled with LUSH, TIERED LANDSCAPE, to create MAXIMUM SPACING and view corridors for the units. This creates a picturesque setting from your living room with a forest bathing environment.

The central courtyard is carefully divided into two main levels to provide maximum view of the PICTURESQUE TIERED LANDSCAPE, while offering privacy to the residents. Small niches of pocket space are placed strategically to provide a different quality of spatial experience in contrast to the vast central courtyard.

Location and Connectivity

Verdale is located on the fringe of Singapore Central Region along De Souza Avenue, off Jalan Jurong Kechil.

Just 450m to the north, you are served by the Bukit Timah Park Connector that will link you to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve in the East, Bukit Batok Nature Park in the North and Bukit Batok Town Park (Little Guilin) in the North-eastern direction.

In the south lies Beauty World MRT Station, approximately 11 minutes walk or 900m away. The Beauty World MRT station is part of the Downtown Line (DTL) MRT network, the longest line in Singapore that operates on driverless trains. Commuters can travel to all parts of Singapore easily as the DTL connects to other existing train lines within 4 to 10 stops away from Beauty World. Commuters are able to arrive at Marina Bay Financial Centre in less than 30 mins.

Drivers will find the convenience of staying in this development as it is well connected to major roads and highways like Upper Bukit Timah Road, Dunearn Road and Pan Island Expressway (PIE).

Verdale lies in the heart of URA's Urban Transformation plan where the Rail Corridor, which was a former railway line previously owned by KTM Malaysia, is undergoing a rejuvenation to spur up the heritage and nature along the 24 km route running from Woodlands to Tanjong Pagar. This further extends to the former Bukit Timah Fire Station which will be converted to a visitor centre when the current lease expires.

Stretching along this Rail Corridor is the Green Corridor. This Green Corridor will be an elevated linear park that runs above the Bukit Timah Canal between Bukit Timah Road and Dunearn Road, connecting from the Jurong Lake Garden to Botanic Garden and Gardens by the Bay, with the possibility of extending to Kallang Riverside Park in the future.

Diners are able to find delicacy and 24 hours eateries nearby at the Rail Mall and along Cheong Chin Nam Road, opposite Beauty World MRT Station. For fresh groceries and economically priced food, there is a Bukit Timah Market & Food Centre which lies adjacent to Beauty World MRT Station. This Bukit Timah Market & Food Centre will also be transformed into a Community Building which will house not only the market and food centre but also a community club, public library, integrated sports hub and elderly care centre.

Another major transformation in the URA's planning is the newly launched government land sale for a plot of land where the successful bidders will be able to build an Integrated Transport Hub together with residential units, service apartments or both. In this integrated transport hub, the successful tenderers will build a bus interchange together with an underground passageway to the Beauty World MRT.

As for shopping spree, there are Bukit Timah Plaza, Bukit Timah Shopping Centre, Beauty World Centre, Beauty World Plaza and also the upcoming mixed development Linq @ Beauty World and the Integrated Transport Hub. Verdale is also near to other dining and shopping centres like Holland Village, Jem, IMM.

Beauty World Urban Transformation

During the Japanese Occupation, some local businessmen collaborated with the Japanese to open an amusement park at Bukit Timah Road 7.5 milestone. Powered by generators, the amusement park’s stalls were brightly lit at night and packed with people, making it stood out in a vicinity of ruralness and darkness, and was dubbed as the most “beautiful” place at Bukit Timah. Hence, was also known as Beauty World.

After the end of war, the park was dismantled and converted into Beauty World Market in July 1947. Just next to it was Beauty World Town, another shopping place opened in 1962. Both shopping areas were completely demolished by the end of the 1980s due to frequent fire outbreaks.

The old shophouses at the nearby Chun Tin Road and Cheong Chin Nam Road are perhaps the only survivors in the vicinity that have witnessed the rise and fall of the old Beauty World. The shophouses have since been refurbished and converted into popular restaurants, cafes and pubs.

New Beauty World Emerged
As the old Beauty World walked into history, a new Beauty World emerged in the Eighties – the government-built Beauty World Centre and the privately-developed Beauty World Plaza.

In the 2010s, the Downtown Line cuts through the vicinity, with a Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station opened in December 2015. The MRT station was fittingly named after Beauty World.

Capitalise on the upcoming rejuvenation plans

Singapore is embarking on an ambitious plan to rejuvenate its neighbourhoods while preserving its heritage, nurture lush greens amid an urban landscape and develop business and community infrastructure islandwide so that everyone has easy access to jobs and amenities.

Under the recent Government initiatives and planning, there are exciting rejuvenation proposals for Beauty World that will benefit the residents living in the area:

  • New residential developments injecting into Jalan Jurong Kechil area.
  • Integrated Transport Hub (ITH) providing convenience and comfort for the commuters in the area.
  • One-stop Bukit Timah Community Building, injecting more community spaces and enhancing the area's vibrancy.
  • Elevated Sky Park above Bukit Timah Canal. The corridor will connect three National Gardens.
  • Railway Corridor with Beauty World transforming into gateways for surrounding nature trails and heritage spaces.
  • Conservation of the former Bukit Timah Fire Station.
  • Cross Island Line (CRL) enhancing the connectivity of the area, saving travelling time to the rest of the island.
  • Road Upgrading of Upper Bukit Timah Road and Jalan Anak Bukit. A stretch of road at Jalan Anak Bukit will be increased from 2 lanes to 3 lanes and providing a storage plan to PIE slip road and Jalan Jurong Kechil between Upper Bukit Timah Road and Toh Tuck Road will be widened from 2 lanes to 3 lanes. A new 3 lane city-bound carriageway along Upper Bukit Toad between Clementi and Jalan Jurong Kechil will be constructed. Communal facilities such as cycling tracks and covered linkway.
  • Vehicular Underpass at PIE Exit 26A (Dunearn Road / Clementi Road) In Singapore, there is only one exit slip road that lies on the extreme right lane of the expressway that results in traffic slow down as slower vehicles like cargo vehicles will need to filter across a few lanes if the driver was to get to Exit 26A. To improve this situation, a new underpass to replace the existing exit has been underway to alleviate the slowdown in traffic along PIE.
